Removal of the building is expected to begin the first week of December.

Dear Hutchinson Neighbors,

As you have likely seen, the new Hutchinson School was officially opened this September and we are thrilled to see our students learning in this new state-of-the art facility.

Over the past few months, contractors have completed abatement of asbestos and removal of other salvageable materials to prepare for demolition. Crews are currently working to remove windows and secure historical plaques and other artifacts from the building which will continue for a few more weeks.

At this time, we expect mobilization for the building demolition to begin around December 1 with the work to remove the building beginning approximately a week later. The building demolition is expected to continue through the end of December. Importantly:

  • Demolition will be completed with machinery, no explosive material will be used

  • Our contractors will continue using water to reduce dust on the site and in the neighborhood

  • The rodent control program that has been employed throughout the construction process will be maintained

  • Residents should expect temporary lane closures or detours along Lincoln and Third Avenues

  • Our Construction Manager will be in regular contact with county/local police to ensure that this work is completed safely.

Once the former school has been removed, the footprint will be transformed into a playground that Hutchinson students and the entire community can enjoy.

As always, thank you for your continued patience and support throughout this project. If you have any questions or concerns about the demolition, please reach out to Triton Construction by calling 914-222-0883 or sending an email to Pelhamprojectinfo@tritonconstruction.net

Sincerely,

Cheryl H. Champ, Ed. D.
