Dear Families,

This afternoon, we learned that an individual at Hutchinson School has tested positive for COVID-19. This

individual was last in the school on Friday, October 23. The District is coordinating with contact tracers at

the Westchester County Department of Health to notify those deemed to have been in close contact with

this person. These notifications are expected to be completed over the next 24-48 hours. At this time, the

school has notified all staff and students who must quarantine for 14 days as a result of school exposure.

Due to health privacy laws, we are not able to provide additional identifying information about the

individual who tested positive, however this situation is not related to the positive case at Colonial School

that was reported on Sunday.

After consulting with the Department of Health, we have determined that it is safe to open for in-person

instruction on Wednesday, October 28 according to the regular hybrid schedule with Cohort A reporting

for in-person and Cohort B learning remotely. As a reminder, Wednesday is a regularly scheduled early

dismissal for all students.

Please understand that this circumstance will restrict certain teachers from reporting to school due to

quarantine requirements. These teachers will teach remotely and arrangements are being made to cover

these classes so that students may continue to report for in-person instruction.

As always, please continue to monitor your/your child’s health and contact your doctor or the

Department of Health if they are showing any signs or symptoms of COVID-19, such as:

● Fever equal to or greater than 100.0 degrees F

● Chills

● Congestion or runny nose

● Cough

● Sore throat

● Fatigue

● Headache

● Muscle or body aches

● Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing

● Loss of taste or smell

● Nausea, vomiting or diarrhea

If testing is recommended, a list of testing sites is available on the Westchester County Department of

Health website under the testing, results and treatment

tab. Additionally, you may call the NYS COVID-19 hotline at 1-888-364-3065 for assistance locating a

testing site.

Please feel free to contact me or the school nurse if you have any additional questions or concerns. We

appreciate your patience, understanding and cooperation during these challenging times.

Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns. As always, our thoughts are with

everyone affected by COVID-19.

Sincerely,

~Trisha
