A reminder about winter recess!

Dear Hutchinson School Families,

I hope that the new year is off to a great start and that your family is back into the routine of school! While the break was relaxing and fun, it was great to see all those smiling faces once again. Please note that since we never really know what Mother Nature has in store for us, please make sure that your child is dressed properly for outdoor recess. If it is not too wet, too cold, or icy, we will still continue to have recess outside. On snowy days, students who are dressed with boots, snow pants and gloves will be allowed to play in the snow. Students without the proper snow gear will remain on the blacktop area.

If you ever have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me. I can be reached at 914-738-3640 or at tfitzgerald@pelhamschools.org.

Wishing everyone a wonderful week ahead!

Sincerely,

~Trisha

Important Information

Next Two Hour Delayed Start

Our next two hour delayed start is on January 13th. Doors will open for student arrival at 10:10 am.

Dismissal Danger

Right before the break, we received an alarming call from a neighbor who was worried about the safety of students and adults during dismissal. The neighbor observed students and parents not crossing in the crosswalk, disobeying instructions by our crossing guards and parking illegally, making it hard to see students in crossing zones. It is imperative that we all work together to make dismissal as safe as it can be. This includes ONLY students lining up on the sidewalk waiting to be reunited with their caregiver, parking in legal parking spots and following the direction of our crossing guard. I would be most grateful if you could help me in this endeavor, as we try and keep our students as safe as possible.

Food Allergies & School Safety

In addition to staying safe outside of our building, we would also like your assistance in helping our students stay safe inside of our school building too. We have several students with severe food allergies and any trace of the allergen is life threatening. If your child’s classroom is a “nut free room” please be mindful to pack ONLY nut free products for snack. In addition, any student attending a lunchtime enrichment program should ALWAYS pack a nut free lunch as well. If you are packing your child a product containing nuts, please alert them to the item so that they know to only take that product out during lunch at one of our non-nut free tables. Please read more helpful information.
